– Fender flares provide ample tire coverage for all your favorite tires up to 33 inches tall without rubbing or interference from overhangs such as those found on extended-cab models. A rear receiver hitch makes it easy to add trailer hookups like a boat or camper shell—or even pull along an ATV or side-by-side vehicle in the same class as your Frontier PRO-4X (up to 1,500 lbs).
Skid Plates
The PRO-4X’s undercarriage is reinforced to shield the engine, oil pan, and front differential from rocks and other trail debris.
Off-road Gauges
When the trail gets rough, you need accurate information. The Off-road Gauges of the PRO-4X keep track of pitch, roll, and also key off-road functions like 4×4 engagement, and differential lock status for a safer, more confident day on the trail.
Intelligent Around View® Monitor with Off-Road Mode
The available Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode (standard on Limited 4WD only) uses four cameras, one in each corner of the vehicle, to give you a bird’s eye view of the trail around you. One push of a button displays three different views: normal, wide, and top-down. The top-down or birds’ eye view is particularly useful when going over tough terrain like rocks because it allows you to see what’s ahead as well as what obstacles may be on your path.
All-terrain tires
While the PRO-4X is a compromise between daily drivability and off-road prowess, it’s still capable of tackling difficult terrain thanks to its aggressive all-terrain tires. These street-legal tires can handle most weather conditions and are built for rugged durability. The tread pattern grips well on wet or dry surfaces but also hooks into loose dirt and mud to keep you moving forward when things get tough. To withstand thousands of miles of abuse, these tires use high-strength steel belts that won’t degrade as quickly as less expensive models with polyester sidewalls.
Bilstein shocks
It’s no surprise that Bilstein performance shock absorbers were designed to meet the demands of all your urban and off-road adventures. And with easy installation, you won’t need to do much except enjoy Frontier’s smooth ride on or off the beaten path.
Electronic locking rear differential
The electronic locking rear differential (ELR) delivers equal power to both rear wheels, boosting traction and helping you maintain control in slippery conditions. With the ELR engaged, if one wheel slips, up to 70% of the engine’s torque can be sent to the opposite wheel for increased forward movement with less tire spin. When you need more than 4×4 can provide, this handy feature provides extra confidence by keeping your tires firmly planted on dry or wet pavement so you can drive with ease as well as keep moving should a sudden downpour turn a dirt road into an impassable mud pit.
Frontier PRO-4X® styling features
Unique to the PRO-4X® is its rugged, muscular presence that’s bold, even when covered in mud and grime from trail excursions. The new body style features a sculpted hood with functional vents and B-pillar accents, plus aggressive wheel flares and front fender garnish for enhanced clearance.
The Frontier PRO-4X® also boasts an all-new chrome grille with a black insert for a more sophisticated appearance, as well as LED headlights—a first on any Nissan truck. Chrome door handles to provide an elegant contrast against the dark curbside molding on exterior color options like Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic, or Glacier White. Other distinctive elements include outside mirrors trimmed in body color to match exterior paint schemes (which can be ordered without the integrated turn signals), while inside you’ll find high-contrast red stitching throughout seats, doors, and center console armrests of premium cloth upholstery models. “PRO-4X” logos are embroidered into the seats’ headrests, while a red leather-wrapped steering wheel completes the PRO-4X® look.
Lava Red accents
Among the distinctive features of the new 2022 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is its Lava Red accents. These red highlights complement the PRO-4X’s rugged design and include accents on the dash, center console, doors, seats, and exterior badging and trim.
